As a consolation, Club Carlson has offered 30,000 bonus gold points on your next eligible stay at a Club Carlson hotel worldwide, when paid with Club Carlson visa. Offer ends Aug 31, 2015

What are the options?

Loosing the bonus award night benefit is a huge blow to this card, you can still avail the bonus award night benefit till May 31,2015. you can now make award reservations through the end of 2016 and if you book before May 31, 2015, you can get a bonus award night for your stays  in 2016. Any changes after May 31, 2015 may remove the bonus award night from the reservation.

You can make award reservations through Dec-31-2016

I called US Bank and expressed my dissatisfaction and mentioned that the annual fee I paid is for the bonus award night benefit and not the new benefit. US bank rep told me that my request to refund the annual fee is submitted and told that the annual fee will be credited back to my account in 7-10 days.

I will be sure to update as soon as the statement credit appears to my account.

Update on 04/13 : Request for annual fee refund was rejected. Instead, US Bank has given 7,500 Club Carlson Gold points for the loss of bonus night benefit, and issued a one time statement credit of $50 due to the incorrect information related to the annual fee refund.

Conclusion:

Effective June 01, 2015 US Bank Club Carlson credit card will not offer bonus award night benefit. If you book before May 31, 2015 you can still take advantage of the bonus award night for stays through 2016.

You may even be able to get your annual fee refunded (I will be able to confirm this in a few days). you can get 30,000 bonus points for a qualifying stay at any club Carlson hotels (targeted to Club Carlson credit card holder only) .

Annual fee refund was rejected, However, I escalated this to a manager and got $50 one statement credit (for giving false information)
and 7,500 club Carlson points (for the loss of benefit)
