Citi just sent an email notifying of an upcoming change to Citi AAdvantage Platinum credit card. Here is a snapshot of the email received from Citi.
This new benefit “No Foreign Transaction Fees” could motivate you to keep this card in your wallet when travelling abroad to save on foreign transaction fees.
Loosing the benefit “$100 American Airlines discount for spending $30,000 or more on your card during the card member year” should not be a concern for most of the card members – This benefit is hardly used, as the $100 discount is not a big motivation to spend $30,000 on the card.
With this change, Citi AAdvantage Platinum credit card has same benefits as the Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Red card. This change might have been forced by American Airlines so all the AA co-branded cards have similar benefits.
After Nov 15, 2015; Citi AAdvantage Platinum credit card will no longer have Foreign transaction fees. This will save you money when travelling outside of USA.
Loosing the benefit “”$100 American Airlines discount for spending $30,000 or more on your card during the card member year” should not be a concern for most of the card members due to the high spending requirement.
