Review: The Westin Europa & Regina – Venice

Are you planning to visit Venice? Did you decide on the hotel, you are going to stay? If not, you should seriously consider The Westin Europa & Regina, Venice.

This is a Category 6 property in SPG portfolio and reward nights start from 20,000 Starpoints/night. We booked a Deluxe room for 22,500 Starpoints/night, where as revenue rates could cost approximately 530 Euros/night.

Whether you are coming by Train or from Airport, you would save time and arrive comfortably, if you choose a private water taxi. Water Taxi is 110 Euro’s per way from/to the airport or 65 Euro per way from/to the St. Lucia station.

You could also choose to arrive by the public transportation service – Alilaguna which will cost 15 Euro per person, from the airport to San Marco or 7.5 Euro from St. Lucia station.

Tip: If you are traveling with 3 or more people and have luggage, it may be convenient to travel by private water taxi, as you can arrive at the hotel’s private dock. Otherwise, you would have to carry your luggage from the public dock to the hotel and there are 2 bridges to be crossed. There is also porter service available at the public water dock.

You need to pass through this small walk way to reach the hotel, if you are traveling by public transportation.

One of the biggest advantage of this hotel is the location and the ability to use points. This hotel is with in walking distance of several restaurants, shopping and the famous tourist spot – San Marco Square.

Check-in took some time as all the passports have to be scanned and we were delighted to get an upgrade to the Grand Canal view rooms – thanks to our SPG Gold status and our prior request.

Hotel looked beautiful from the lobby with an Italian touch.

There are 5 floors in the hotel and we were given a room in the second floor. We were escorted to our room by one of the front desk team.

The highlight of the room is the Grand Canal view through the windows.

These windows are locked and can only be opened partially for safety reasons, you can request the concierge to have these windows opened.

There is a walk way as you enter in to the room with a closet and the bathroom to the right.

This is a King bed deluxe room and is very big and quite comfortable. we were also given a crib for our 1 year old. You could hear the Gandola’s, water taxis through the window which is an amazing experience.

We were sent a box of biscuits as a complimentary.

There is no coffee machine offered in these rooms due to city regulations, hence the hotel is offering complimentary coffee/tea once per person per day.

Bathroom is spacious with a separate walk-in shower, bathroom is decorated with Italian marble.

Another feature of the hotel is the restaurant, you get a great view of the grand canal and enjoy the food. Breakfast buffet is 38 Euro’s person or you can redeem 3,000 Starpoints per person as an instant reward towards breakfast.

Breakfast buffet included a variety of cold and hot items and you could order eggs/coffee and milk as you like.

Overall the service has been quick and attentive. The interior of the hotels is truly eye catching.

You can even get a workout in the hotels gym.

The Westin Europa & Regina, Venice is a great option for staying in Venice. This is a category 6 hotel, which starts at 20,000 points/night.

You are with in walking distance of many shopping areas, restaurants and tourist destinations.
