It is that time of the year, many frequent travel and loyalty programs announce changes to the programs. Earlier, we learned about the upcoming changes to Marriott Rewards program.
Starwood also has announced changes to its loyality program “Starwood Preferred Guest” effective March 10, 2015. You can book award nights under the current categories until March 09, 2015.

Some of the notable changes
Most Hotels based in California are going up in category, so do book your award stays before Mar 09, 2015.
If you are here in US for short term, you should invest in “Starwood Preferred Guest” rewards program because many Starwood hotels in India are moving down in Category.
ITC Rajputana Jaipur will be a category 1 hotel after March 09, 2015.
ITC Grand Chola, Chennai will be a category 2 hotels after March 09, 2015.

Starwood preferred guest rewards is changing categories for about 20% of its portfolio. 130 hotels are moving up in category and 138 hotels are moving down in category.
If you plan on touring India, these changes are good as there are many properties that are going down in category.
