Amex Membership Rewards to BA Transfer Ratio is Changing On Oct 01, 2015

Amex Membership Rewards to BA (British Airways) Avios transfer ratio is changing effective Oct 01, 2015.  Until Sep 30, 2015, you can transfer at 1:1 ratio in 1,000 point increments.

From Oct 01, 2015,  you will get 200 British Airways (BA) Avios for every 250 Amex Membership rewards transferred, which is equivalent to 800 BA Avios for every 1,000 points. You are loosing 20% value from the current state.

BA Avios has devalued their program earlier this year where by premium cabin redemptions are extremely expensive. With this change, it will cost us even more when transferring Membership reward points to BA Avios.

You can continue to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest points to British Airways at 1:1 ratio.

While it is recommended to transfer the points just for the devaluation, it is recommended that you take advantage of the current transfer ratios if you have any travel plans in the near future.

BA Avios are extremely useful for short haul economy travel.
